Gyoza matches excellently to a beer and is a splendid locals’ favorite food that can be nibbles, lunch, and dinner.
Fukuoka gourmets are not just ramen noodles, Motsunabe(a Japanese hot pot that is made from beef tripe), and Mizutaki(chopped chicken, tofu, and vegetables are boiled in stock and then eaten with citrus juice and soy sauce).
You can eat delicious Gyoza.
Hakata Gyoza is called as bite-size Gyoza and many of them are small-sized, so there are many that ladies can easily eat.
I have carefully selected the Gyoza restaurants that are unbelievably delicious that I ate.

Hakata Gyoza Yushin
Talking about a fashionable Gyoza restaurant, it is “Hakata Gyoza Yushin”.
Inside the store that is refined, fashionable, and calm has a distinctive atmosphere with a bit dimming lighting!
What is popular is Teppan Gyoza (grilled dumplings on an iron plate).
You can fully enjoy a bite-sized Gyoza of Hakata Gyoza that once you eat, you become wanting to eat again.
Features of Gyoza in Yushun

The stuffing: Meat full of umami taste, and vegetables are crunchy texture.
Deepening taste with seafood extract.

Hakata Gion Tetsunabe
It is a restaurant that is widely known as when speaking of Teppan Gyoza (grilled dumplings on an iron plate) in Hakata it is “Tetsunabe”, and that is being loved by locals for long.
As there are some branch stores, you will find the shop curtain everywhere, but I like “Hakata Gion Tetsunabe” for some reason.
I am guessing that it is because the landlady acts quickly and efficiently and is cheerful.
What is distinctive is Gyoza are fully lined crammed in a circle in a circle iron pot.
It is highly impressive even just by this.
When you eat it, it is much more impressive!
Crunchy and bit thick Gyoza skin that is fried crisply.
The inside is filled with full of juicy ingredients.
In this store, I have learned that collaboration of Gyoza and Yuzu Kosho (condiment paste made from yuzu zest and peppers) are the perfect match.
Some years has passed since I moved to Fukuoka!
My first experience of Hakata Gyoza was this store!
I keep eating at the restaurant since my mentor had taken me there first, and I still become wanting to go regularly because the store remains always tasty.

Gyoza Lee
As you can see from the name of the store, the owner is Chinese.
And, it seems that the store is operated only with Chinese employees, so Chinese languages are flying over inside the store.
Larger size Gyoza is rare in Fukuoka where there is much bite-size Gyoza, and the Gyoza skin is thicker, and ingredients are stuffed abundant.
Although meat is stuffed much, it is not like meaty.
It is juicy and is easy to eat, so you can eat up quickly!
For those who are Gyoza-lovers and who wish to eat larger Gyoza, please try it by all means.

Asahi Ken Ekimae Honten
It is a famous Gyoza specialized restaurant that has begun from a stall in the Showa 29th (1954).
It is a long-standing Gyoza specialized restaurant even in Fukuoka.
You will not get tired of eating Gyoza even you ate a lot that is full of meat juices.
The point that is a moderate amount of garlic seems reputed among ladies.
Of course, the Gyoza here is a bite-size Gyoza of Hakata.
The texture of crispy Gyoza skin that you feel as if fried Gyoza and taste of ingredients that comes out abundantly from stuffed foodstuff are not unforgettable.
Please fully enjoy the Gyoza that you can eat up quickly alone as many as dishes for 3 to 4 persons!

Bajo-so
Because the store wraps stuffing and bakes Gyoza after order, it is a store that you can enjoy a real “freshly-made Gyoza”.
And both the taste of that Gyoza and the Gyoza skin are the one and only thing that you can taste only in here.
The distinctive of this store is that the Gyoza skin is chewy and is tasty.
It is not mistaken to believe in words of an owner-chef saying that “Jusy try first Gyoza without words”.
Let’s order at first the Gyoza of several dozens and then try ordering another dish.

Hao Tsu Gyoza
Because the store is in a place that is located in the south even in Fukuoka, it is a restaurant that is known to those in the know.
The Gyoza here is very much reputed, so a considerable amount of takeaway Gyoza is sold every day.
But, after all, I think that you can understand the real tastefulness of the Gyoza if eating it in the restaurant.
The baked side is a comfortable texture of crunchy, and the other side that was steamed is chewy.
The Gyoza surprisingly is made without garlic…, and that is extremely delicious.

Marusan Gyoza
Soft and chewy, crispy, and flowing out juices of ingredients, which is what an iron pot Gyoza of Hakata is.
When you say about a Gyoza restaurant that you like to go many times, that is this “Marusan Gyoza”.
Although you will need to walk a bit from “Nakasu”, a night town of Hakata, it is a hidden restaurant.
Everything that you eat is tasty, but a Gyoza cannot be missed out for sure!
It looks similar to a Gyoza of Tetsunabe, but I personally like better a Gyoza here.
Because there are prepared both Yuzu Kosho (condiment paste made from yuzu zest and peppers) and chili oil, it may be a good idea to eat them while comparing.
What is recommended is, of course, a combination of Yuzu Kosho and Gyoza sauce.

HAKATA ONO
When speaking of Hakata Gyoza, you may tend to think that it is a bite-size Gyoza and an iron plate Gyoza.
But, the one that won a championship in Tenjin Gyoza General Election 2017 was called “Kunikatsu Gyoza” that is heavy and extremely satisfying.
The Gyoza skin is a bit thick and chewy, and flowing out meat juices from inside, it is the Gyoza stuffed full of ingredients.
I wish you to eat this at least once!
When you go for lunch, you will separately order this Gyoza.
It is no doubt that you will become attracted to this Gyoza that has so much presence.

Wrapping up Hakata Gyoza and Map
There are abundant gourmet foods to eat in Fukuoka, so I have trouble to think about what to eat every time.
What I become wanting to eat regularly is “Gyoza”, which can be said as the king of Fukuoka’s local favorite typical dish of what is called class B Gurume.
Hakata Gyoza is mainly many of a bite-size Gyoza, so you can quickly eat them as many as dishes for 3 to 4 persons up alone.
Also, it is distinctive that Yuzu Kosho is prepared, and one who was used to eat with chili oil will also be attracted to eating with Yuzu Kosho.
When you wish to fully enjoy Fukuoka’s local favorite typical dish, I do not like you to miss a bite-size Gyoza and an iron pot Gyoza of Hakata.
